Why do we get depressed even though everything's fine?

Feelings of depression are tough nuts to crack. Everything in life appears to be all set. Supportive friends, a good job, financial shield, and a loving family. Yet we still feel that’s something missing from our lives or unsatisfied.

It’s all because of the internal factors that lead to such a low-spirited mindset. Every time you celebrate a moment of joy, you think “It’s not worth enjoying” or “It’s not big a deal”. Such a practice can degrade your confidence and lead to a lack of meaning.

I believe the following factors result in such a setting:

Getting Used To Change

Life is a roller-coaster. The situations change drastically. And this is when we are tested with our adaptability. We tend to expect things to be the same as they have been earlier. Yet different settings require different responses. And depression and emotional breakdown make it tough to fit in.

Moreover, once we are slapped with some failures, we fail to think properly and do not keep ourselves ready for upcoming events.

Digging The Past

Everyone has had their own shares of bad times. Yet, some of them still keep thinking about it. They do not just simply move on. They keep crowding their minds with thoughts like “I should have done it better” or “Why didn’t I study properly?”. This eventually leads to overthinking which is venomous for our mental health.
